I just happened upon this and knew it was important...my dear old dad is currently in hospital with a broken hip, and things haven't gone as we would like thus far ...its been a hellish time ,as his dementia takes hold,along with pneumonia as we encourage ..wait...and pray..its so confronting not to be able to 'fix' him ..and im feeling defeated tbh. For 10 yrs weve managed and cared for him ...just his kids,we have no other family and its exhausting.. I forget to give his care to god,to hand it to him ..ive prayed , ive wept,ive given thanks but the control and worry is hard to give up

I thought I got the whole being a Catholic thing until like two weeks ago.... I finally surrendered... and the fact that THIS is what God actually had in mind for my life.. I just burst out crying with utter childlike joy every few hours. God is so good. Godbless you all!!!

If we take Genesis and the fall seriously, as the great Saints and Doctors of the Church taught us, we must humble ourselves to accept our sinful tendancies. The sorry state we find ourselves tempted to fall to must be faught, some of us constantly stumble as you rightly mention. Better that, falling to sin and recognizing it than those who through pride are washing their hands of their failings, or worse - denying they are failing in their actions and inactions, sinning in their deeds and thoughts regularly.

Today, our Blessed Lady's Birthday I thank God for all the blessings I received from her and her son Jesus Christ 🙏 I have to fight discouragement on a daily basis but I trust. Glory to God in the highest.

God bless you for sharing this. The devil had me convinced for such a long time that I was a lost cause, and thus, worthy of punishment exclusively. Therefore, everything I took for myself was out of greed rather than gratitude. Jesus Christ is the only way, it's difficult to see the writing on the wall when you're trying to read it with your nose.

My wife and I have been separated for over a year and a half and there's my responsibility for growing up more, but I'm a really good father and she has been alienating my daughters from me.. our marriage counselor is now my counselor.. and I've resented some of the stuff that he started as far as limiting my time with the girls and money. I've learned that he can't be my savior. He is known to be a very good counselor but I've been taking his advice with a grain of salt lately. Additionally, I've sought out help from a marriage coach.. I've done a ton of self work through his program, but for all my work I still make mistakes and regret when I interact with her in a fleshly way due to resentment about the limited time I have with my daughters and feeling misunderstood. The point is, I also have to not make my marriage coach my savior and even another man who have become a mentor and my Celebrate Recovery sponsor. I have to listen to conflicting advice and bring it all to the Lord and just trust him. I must do the right thing, and surrender the outcome.

I always like to hear this again. In striving the danger seems always present to enter into perfectionism. Thank you Fr Columba and humor helps also…

From childhood to adulthood my life has been full of challenges and pain to the point were i gave asked god to kill me. I have worked so hard only for god to give the fruit of my hard work to a non deserving person. I have been through depression and anxiety and loneliness all my life. Seeing people who are non deserving getting all the things in life without even asking make me wana scream at god. Let me tell you all the truth and this is from experience. God is a biased and favoritizing god. I begged god for soooo many years to help me crying to him that why me why cant l also get good things in life like he give to bad people. Guss what no answer from god till yet. Either god is to dumb to answer me or he is just playeing trick. I have rejected god from my life and i have never felt so happy before. I understand now that god made me to mock me. God is biased and only chooses and gives good things to people he likes. God doesn't deserve any respect. God is a manipulative monster who only loves to make life miserable for people like me. During judgment day i will be waiting for god to give me an answer for why he did all evil things to me. And i will spit on his face and walk to hell my self. I hate god with all my heart and will always. With what authority he chose to create me and make my life miserable. I dont want a mean god to be part of my life who had dont nothing for me. I have banished god from my life.

When God said in Genesis " let us make man in our image"... we are called and made to be reflections of the image of God. Stained by sin, our image is dirty, and do not reflect His image. But, our Lords sacrifice, washed our sins away by His blood and water. So when we live in Christ, are united to His spirit, we are once again complete in reflecting the true image of God. ❤

There is nothing that can 'fix' a painful life situation. There are loads of reasons to be discouraged and disheartened. A depressive illness, bad health, loneliness due to singleness are part of some people's lives. I can attest to no whatever what you try, no matter how often you pray, visit the blessed sacrament, cry out to God in desperation, have masses offered or do nothing and just sit in an empty church, or pray rosaries, chaplets, novenas, years back retreats, pilgrimages. It's all in vain. your left feeling empty sometimes. No answers come. More hardship and poverty and loneliness. I'm 52..tried it all. Its like fairh is some one kind of illusion that we fight to believe in but illnesses just get worse even with prayers holy annointing.. the list is endless. Trying to escape the emptiness of human suffering sometimes stretched out over decades..from even early on in life...The terrifying fear is if I let go of religion which anxiety won't let me do. There is nothing a void. Also if I let go faith I may well commit suicide.. again anxiety puts a block there ..don't do it. If it's depression, priests will say are you getting psychological help? Go for psychology help and doctors will tell you because your live alone, your depression is getting worse and living away from where you grew up . What if in my situation where you grew up was traumatic and some relations are passed on or they continue pushing you out . After all they are doing it decades. Catholic church or church in general is all about families. If you have no car to get about. More isolating. It's not all the devil. It's just this life can be awful.

I say all of this in the hopes that you will see the light and the truth. I didn't know the Truth for 50 years of my life until the Lord came to me on a hike, and I've never been the same. You know the world has a different idea of what truth is, but Jesus, the Son of God, is the truth. What comes from Him is truth, and one day it will be all that matters. I’m not sure if you know, but sins are acts against God the Father of Jesus Christ. There are degrees of sin, with killing of another human being as one of the worst. There are consequences for this sin that might not be obvious at first. In fact, you don't even have to believe in Jesus Christ to be affected by sins against God. One day you will take your last breath, and you will be face to face with Jesus Christ, the Judge of every human being who has ever lived, and you will have to answer for your sins. I strongly encourage you not to vote for a lady who delights in abortions. This is not good for you and certainly not good for this country.
